This was foreseeable. The intention of Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen to lift the ban on deploying nuclear weapons would represent a serious escalation of the situation. After all, if nuclear weapons are deployed on your own territory, their targets must be directed at some country. It is obvious these weapons would not be aimed at Western countries.
