According to the UK's The Guardian, US President Trump on Wednesday (23rd) attended an artificial intelligence (AI) summit at the Mellon Hall in Washington, where he gave a speech and suddenly "improvised," stating that he disliked the word "artificial" and proposed to the industry leaders present that the name "artificial intelligence" be changed.
The report said that Trump began his speech by introducing the theme of the summit as "the most powerful force - intelligence," and continued to boast about his victory in the 2024 US election, as he does at all his political rallies.
"The whole world is talking about artificial intelligence," The Guardian reported. Trump suddenly shifted the topic, seemingly deviating from his prepared speech, saying, "‘Artificial’ - I can't stand it (the name). I even don't like this name. You know I don't like anything that is ‘artificial.’ So can we clarify this name? We should change it."
Trump's remarks caused laughter in the audience, after which he added, "I'm serious. I don't like the name 'artificial' because it's not 'artificial,' it's a masterpiece of genius, pure genius."
The Guardian commented that given Trump's first act after taking office was renaming the Gulf of Mexico to "American Bay," he might indeed be serious.
On January 21 this year, the day after taking office, US President Trump announced at the White House that the United States would open the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (OpenAI), Japan's SoftBank Group, and American Oracle Company would create a joint venture called "Stargate," planning to invest $50 billion over the next four years to build infrastructure supporting AI development in the United States. However, this highly anticipated "Stargate" has been exposed as "struggling." Reports indicated that the project has reduced its goals, with plans to build only a small data center by the end of the year.
