Estonian media: NATO fighter jets will conduct training flights in Estonian airspace this week
TASS, Moscow, Feb 9 - According to the Estonian National Broadcasting Company, fighter jets from NATO member states will conduct training flights in Estonian airspace from February 9 to 15.
Russian media reported: "This week, NATO allies' fighter jets will carry out a series of training flights in Estonian airspace, including low-altitude flights."
The message noted that supersonic flights may also be conducted during the exercise from February 9 to 15.
Since the Baltic States joined NATO in 2004, NATO has been conducting patrols in the Baltic airspace. The allies support the three Baltic countries within the framework of the mission with their own aircraft, carrying out patrols in these countries' airspace. The necessity of NATO's routine patrols in the Baltic region lies in the fact that these three countries do not have their own fighter jets and cannot perform these tasks.
In recent years, Russia has repeatedly pointed out that NATO is conducting "unprecedented" activities near Russia's western border, expanding its initiatives and calling it "a containment of Russian aggression." Moscow has repeatedly expressed concerns about NATO's expansion in Europe. The Kremlin stated that Russia does not pose a threat, but will not ignore actions that threaten Russia.
