South Korean media: Chinese electric vehicle charging speed leads the way as it can travel 2.5 kilometers with just one second of charging!

On June 9th, South Korean media "Newdaily" published an article stating that China is developing "fast charging" technology at an astonishing speed, which can charge an electric vehicle by 2.5 kilometers with just one second.

The South Korean industry pointed out that China is striving to take a leading position in fast charging technology and become a global standard, and South Korea also urgently needs to respond.

The second-generation "Shenhang" battery of CATL, the world's largest battery company, can travel 2.5 kilometers with just one second of charging and 520 kilometers with five minutes of charging.

The first-generation "Shenhang" battery launched by CATL in 2023 originally needed 15 minutes for charging time, but within just two years, the charging time has been shortened to 5 minutes.

DY Auto, the world's leading electric vehicle company, achieved a charging speed of 2 kilometers per second with its "Super e-platform". DY Auto achieved this by reducing the internal resistance of the battery by 50%.

ZEEKR, an upscale electric vehicle brand under Geely Automobile, plans to introduce a technology that uses liquid immersion cooling technology, providing 300 kilometers of driving range in just 5 minutes. This means a charging speed of 1 kilometer per second.

Take Xiaomi, a latecomer in the electric vehicle industry as an example; it only takes 2.7 minutes of charging to drive 300 kilometers.

Of course, these charging technologies from Chinese companies can only be realized under the condition of well-developed infrastructure.

By contrast, Hyundai's Ionic 5 can travel 100 kilometers with a 5-minute super-fast charge and can charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes with a fast charge.

A battery industry insider in South Korea analyzed that "Fast charging not only significantly shortens the battery life but also poses a fire risk. It seems that China's battery technology has solved these problems to a certain extent, so it is gradually introducing fast charging technology."
