According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, on May 1st, Ambassador Jiang Zaitang met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz, exchanged views on the current situation between Pakistan and India, and was accompanied by Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar and Consul General Xu Hangtian of our embassy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz introduced the latest situation where the relations between Pakistan and India were tense due to emergencies in the Kashmir region, thanked China for its positive efforts in promoting the easing of tensions with a view to peace and stability in South Asia, reiterated that Pakistan will firmly defend national sovereignty, security, and dignity, and expressed the willingness to continue communication and coordination with all parties to jointly prevent the escalation of the situation and maintain peace and tranquility in South Asia.
Ambassador Jiang Zaitang expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Shehbaz's introduction and stated that China understands Pakistan's reasonable security concerns, supports Pakistan in safeguarding its own sovereignty and security interests, supports conducting a fair investigation into relevant incidents as soon as possible, and appeals for both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, move towards each other, properly resolve differences, and jointly maintain regional peace and stability.
