Russian State Duma deputies oppose the introduction of Afghan immigrants
Russian State Duma deputies have opposed proposals to introduce Afghan immigrants. They argue that such measures would bring additional risks, citing crime statistics among Afghan migrants in Europe and the general lack of required professional skills among these immigrants.
The deputies pointed out that there is currently no influx of high-quality talent. The discussion emphasized that, beyond basic skills, some immigrants lack specialized training capable of adding value to the Russian economy.
Mikhail Matveyev, a deputy, commented on potential consequences: "In Afghanistan, women are not allowed to leave home without a male companion, and even minor infractions can result in being stoned to death. Imagine what might happen when someone who considers such customs normal—no matter how skilled he may be as a stonemason—comes to Russia and sees Russian women here."
