[White House: Despite Nvidia's Appeal to Ease China Chip Export Restrictions, US Will Uphold Limitation Policy]
Bloomberg reported on the 22nd that a senior White House official said that despite recent calls by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang for the US to ease restrictions on chip exports to China, the Trump administration will continue efforts to prevent China from obtaining advanced artificial intelligence technology.
Sriram Krishnan, Senior Advisor for Artificial Intelligence Policy at the White House, stated in an interview with Bloomberg Television on Wednesday: "We certainly respect Mr. Huang very much, but when it comes to exporting (chips) to China, I believe there is still widespread concern among both parties in the United States about the consequences if these GPUs enter the Chinese mainland."
On May 21st, Jensen Huang, CEO of US chip giant Nvidia, stated at an event that the US export control on AI chips to China was "a failure." He mentioned that the Chinese market is very important because approximately half of the world's AI researchers are located in mainland China.
