[Prediction of the Direction of the Russian Army After the End of the War by the Chief of the Ukrainian General Intelligence Directorate]
On April 5th, Kirill Budanov, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Intelligence Directorate, stated in an interview with the YouTube channel "Anna Maksimchuk" that after the end of the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine, Russia will not significantly reduce its number of troops. In his view, there are completely reasonable explanations for this.
Budanov pointed out, "Firstly, according to their strategy, they need such a number of troops. Currently, approximately 50% of the military budget is spent on soldiers' salaries and benefits. This includes subsidies for soldiers, one-time payments when signing contracts, final payments when contracts end upon completion of service terms, compensation for injuries, payments for those who die in action, etc."
He said that the second part of the budget is used for purchasing ammunition, and the third part is for maintaining and repairing military equipment. "When the war ends, all these payment items will also cease, the problem will be resolved, and at the same time, a large amount of budget funds will be released. Therefore, the size of the Russian army will not be reduced."
Budanov also answered the question of whether the Russian Federation would take responsibility for all its crimes: "The Germans took responsibility for many years, but they only did so for one reason - because they were defeated."
