Reference Message Network reported on April 9 according to the reports of Russia Today website and Fox News. Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, criticized the Ukrainian authorities for failing to issue a warning about Ryan Wesley Rath's attempt to assassinate Trump with weapons last year in a post on X social platform on the 8th.

Rath is a pro-Ukrainian activist who was arrested near Trump's Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida in September 2024 while carrying a rifle, and is currently facing federal charges. According to the latest court documents obtained by Fox News website, Rath attempted to obtain heavy weapons from someone he believed had access to Ukrainian armories to kill then US presidential candidate Trump.

Junior Trump posted: "Ukraine never says thank you for everything it has received from America... and that antisocial person still wanted to buy weapons from Ukrainians to assassinate my father, but Ukraine didn't tell us anything about it. Isn't this even worse? Why?!?"

The report stated that Rath tried to join the Ukrainian army in 2022 but failed. In 2024, he contacted a Ukrainian arms supplier to purchase a Russian-made rocket-propelled grenade launcher and an American-made "Stinger" missile, clearly stating in the encrypted message sent: "I need these weapons so that Trump won't win." Rath also insisted at the time that Ukraine was in a state of war and chaos, making it easy to get these weapons, and that losing one wouldn't be noticed.

Court documents stated that Rath never got the weapons he wanted, and soon after he was arrested near Mar-a-Lago. His trial is scheduled for September this year. If found guilty of serious charges such as attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, possession of firearms and ammunition to promote violent crimes, and assault on federal officials, he could face life imprisonment.
