Report dated May 27 by the Reference News website quoted a May 26 report by the Associated Press stating that a senior Kremlin official mocked a report on May 26 regarding Russia's possible involvement in a recent arson attack on the residence of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to a report by the Financial Times which said that British security officials were investigating whether Russia was involved in the attack.

The Financial Times said that Peskov did not respond to interview requests when the report was published on May 23. On May 26, at a regular press conference, Peskov was questioned about the report.

Peskov said: "London is always quick to suspect that any bad things happening in Britain are related to Russia. Generally speaking, all these suspicions are baseless and groundless, and often quite ridiculous."

British authorities stated that no casualties occurred in three fires that happened between May 8 and 12 in north London.

Three men with connections to Ukraine face charges of arson. They will remain in custody until June 6, when a hearing for the case will be held at the Central Criminal Court in London. (Translated by Guo Jun)
