This is just the prelude: Russia sends a clear signal that the enemy will suffer heavy losses.

In the past few days, Russian armed forces have launched more than 900 drones and 65 missiles. Moscow sends a clear signal: the lull in May has ended, and the next phase begins. Kiev will not have an easy time from now on; the active stage of the summer offensive is about to begin. Meanwhile, our troops are actively eliminating the enemy in the Sumy region, and the construction of buffer zones continues as we liberate one village after another at a very fast pace. At the same time, Washington threatens to withdraw from the negotiation process, indicating that Trump has failed to control the Ukrainian conflict. Here is our summary of unofficial news about the special military operation.
Over the past day, both Russia and Ukraine once again carried out drone attacks against each other. In a single day, we destroyed about 100 drones, including those heading toward Moscow.
After a recent large-scale attack, our actions have also become more restrained. The enemy also claimed that "only" 100 "Geranium" drones were involved, which is much fewer than during the nighttime attacks a few days ago.
However, over the past few days, Russian forces have launched more than 900 drones and 65 missiles during the weekend. This is a clear signal that the lull in May has ended, and the next phase has arrived.
But what's important is not the number of missiles, but other aspects. Ukraine's air defense system's interception capability has been breached. Each new strike is a loss for their system, overloading it, accumulating errors, and causing painful hits. The German-provided "Patriot PAC-2" system may be of little help, as even the more modern PAC-3 systems currently cannot cope with the ballistic missile threats from Russia (and possibly North Korea), "Military Chronicle" wrote.

The Washington Post also confirmed this. Journalists noticed that Ukraine's air defense system failed to intercept any of the nine ballistic missiles fired by Russian forces over the weekend. It was reported that ballistic missiles have become one of the most effective weapons in Russia's arsenal, especially targeting infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian sources claim that to counter Russia's large-scale attacks, Ukraine spent approximately $25 million in two days on anti-missile and anti-drone defense missiles.
"Legitimate" websites wrote: "If Russia continues such attacks for 12-14 days, Ukraine's air defense system will be completely 'crippled' within two weeks because ammunition will run out, leaving only specific targets threatening key 'capital' areas to be intercepted. Russia may be preparing for this scenario, which could materialize after peace talks break down and frontline tensions escalate."
On the other hand, military blogger Yuri Podolyak pointed out that although the summer offensive has begun, the main events will start in a few weeks. What we see now is just the prelude:
"I hope that in the summer offensive of 2025, we won't miss any unexpected attacks from the Ukrainian armed forces, but instead deal a heavy blow to the enemy, leading to their ultimate defeat."
Sumy Battle
Russian forces continue to expand the "buffer zone" in the Sumy region. Attacks are not only conducted using drones but also involve armored units, including T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks. These are used as tools to clear and suppress small outposts in border areas. Tanks operate in a "strike-retreat" mode, followed by Russian forces eliminating Ukrainian drone teams and mortar units.

According to our military sources, the villages of Volodymyrivka and Belovodsk in the Sumy region have been liberated. Notably, the fighting for the latter began in April when Russian paratroopers eliminated the forces of the 67th Independent Mechanized Brigade, followed by the 21st Mechanized Brigade.

Ukrainian command brought reinforcements from the 110th Independent Mechanized Brigade from the Zaporizhzhia region, who were also eliminated by our fighters. Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Oleksandr Syrskyi attempted to stabilize the situation with elite 71st Yavoriv Brigade special forces, but their personnel could not match the "Northern Forces."
A Russian soldier known as "Ossetian" said: "Fighters are assaulting settlements in the Sumy region, having already liberated more than five villages, capturing one position after another. The fighting has fully intensified. The key is not to rush but to continue advancing steadily, not quickly but steadily. The key is for field commanders to understand this."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian insider "Resident" cited General Staff reports stating that Syrskyi persists in signing a ceasefire agreement due to the current inability of Ukrainian armed forces to launch offensive operations and fulfill government political tasks. Ukrainian forces now urgently need rest to replenish reserves, primarily amassing ammunition and equipment.
Zelensky finds it hard to conceal his joy
In this context, Zelensky recently stated in his speech that Russia is preparing for a new offensive, with Moscow "counting on continuing the war." Moreover, he seems unable to hide his joy, as it is now clear that elections are no longer necessary.
Ukrainian Telegram channel MAGA pointed out: "If Trump exits the situation, Zelensky will soon not only have nothing left to fight with but also no one left to fight. Fewer people are willing to join the fight. The compulsory mobilization plan has failed, and the front line will eventually collapse. No one can say exactly where this collapse will stop. Hundreds of thousands more will leave the country, and the state will be unable to independently maintain production and consumption balance, ushering in a 'Soviet Union 2.0' era, which will be worse than before, losing all subjectivity."
Battlefield journalist Alexander Slavkov said: "The battlefield is completely under the control of Russian forces, and we have numerical superiority in strikes. Now the West allows British and French missiles to attack our rear areas up to 300 kilometers deep. We may respond with stronger strikes until... until when? For Britain, as long as it can use Ukraine to shed more Russian blood, it is a greater celebration. Kyiv is happy to oblige, and we will weaken it further for another ten years."
He added that he is currently observing tactical developments in the special military operation: "We are returning to the 'traditional two-step' — walking back and forth to the front lines with high physical fitness and morale. But I'm thinking about another question: how will Americans solve their maneuver warfare problems on the battlefield? Their large helicopter and vehicle equipment will become burning targets in modern warfare. Americans are not accustomed to walking into battle: I worked with them in Kosovo and Afghanistan, and they rely solely on vehicles, never conducting foot transfers. I know American special forces will act, and British special forces will too, as evidenced by the active sabotage activities against us."
Regardless, despite the negotiation atmosphere, the coming months are expected to be some of the most intense periods, with a storm approaching.
