The Times said that even before US President Donald Trump used the US "earth-penetrating bomb" in the attack, Israel's strike on Iran was a risky move. However, Tehran's failure may only be temporary.

Iran has always claimed its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but officials have sometimes hinted that if its facilities are attacked, the country may make nuclear bombs.

Kelsey Davenport, director of nonproliferation policy at the Arms Control Association, said: "Tehran is now more likely to withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty and decide to make nuclear weapons."

The media predicts that the Iranian authorities may follow North Korea — whose nuclear weapons have kept the country free from any external interference. Given that Iran has already moved enriched uranium to secret facilities even before the US attack, the time required for Iran to make nuclear weapons may be shorter than what the US and Israeli officials claim.
