Russia begins construction of a road bridge to North Korea, spanning the Tumen River.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tumen River Bridge. This is another major economic cooperation between Russia and North Korea following their military alliance. According to Russian media reports, the bridge will be completed within a year, facilitating cargo transportation between the two countries.
Last June, during Putin's visit to North Korea, he signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty with Kim Jong Un, which included an agreement to construct the road bridge across the Tumen River. After the completion of the Tumen River Bridge, Russia and North Korea's logistics network will no longer be limited to railways but will expand to roads, further increasing the scale of trade between the two countries.
It is worth noting that China and Russia had also reached an agreement on the joint development of the Tumen River estuary project. Following the advancement of Russia-North Korea cooperation, it is believed that the projects on China's side will soon commence as well.
