Korean Media: NVIDIA's Market Share in China Drops from 95% to 55%, Huawei Fills the Gap!

On May 6, South Korea's daily newspaper Business Korea published an article stating that NVIDIA's share in China's artificial intelligence semiconductor market has significantly declined.

Data from market research firm IDC shows that NVIDIA's market share in China dropped sharply from 95% in 2024 to 55% last year.

According to IDC statistics, a total of 4 million AI semiconductors were sold in the Chinese market last year, with NVIDIA leading the sales with 2.2 million units.

Meanwhile, due to U.S. restrictions, NVIDIA has been selling products with specifications far below the H20 standard in the Chinese market. In April last year, the Trump administration even banned exports to China. Subsequently, the United States reinstated approval for H20 exports to China.

Last year, Huawei became China's second-largest manufacturer of AI semiconductors, selling 810,000 AI chips and capturing a 20% market share.

Alibaba's T-head Semiconductor ranked third, with shipments reaching 265,000 units.

Next, U.S.-based AMD came fourth with sales of 160,000 units, accounting for a 4% market share. Together, NVIDIA and AMD held a combined market share of 59% in China.

Following them, Baidu’s Kunlun chip and Cambricon each sold 116,000 units, tying for fifth place.

Although China's AI semiconductors achieved notable progress last year, assessments indicate they still lag behind NVIDIA’s technology by 5 to 10 years.

In the meantime, Huawei launched the Atlas 350 AI chip last month. Huawei explained that the chip's performance is three times that of NVIDIA's H20.
