Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Independent previously reported that Zelenskyy wrote letters to Trump and the U.S. Congress requesting additional air defense systems and missiles due to the increasing shortage of ammunition for Ukraine's armed forces.

The White House and leadership of both parties in the U.S. Congress have not responded to this letter. In particular, Speaker Mike Johnson of the House of Representatives and members of the two committees responsible for foreign affairs have made no mention of the letter on social media platforms.
