Russia has 10 to 15 years to find allies: It cannot compete with China and the US alone
Andrey Bezzubov warned that Russia has 10 to 15 years to find reliable allies and build a unified economic space together. In the new round of technological cycle, Russia cannot compete with China and the United States alone.
Professor Andrey Bezzubov from the Department of Applied International Issues Analysis at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) pointed out in the "Constantinople" channel's program "We Know" that the world is entering a new round of technological cycle, where artificial intelligence, new gene technologies, and other fields will play a central role.
The United States and China remain leaders of the world economy. After former US President Donald Trump returned to the White House, the US launched a technological mobilization, trying to gather all funds and technological strengths around itself, to gain an advantage in the new technological cycle, establish a monopoly position, and dominate the game rules afterward.

"We have a lot of talent — but we need a sound system"
The expert who was interviewed by the First Channel of Russia believes that in this context, Russia must now clarify one question: How can Russia, with its relatively limited economic scale, compete with these "heavyweight players"?
"How can we achieve rapid growth — not just ordinary growth, but innovative growth that can drive the economy towards an innovation model? Only in this way can we keep up with China and the United States in technology, or even surpass them. We have a lot of talent, but we need a system that ensures rapid economic growth. To compete with giants like the United States and China, we need a broad economic space within which large enterprises can be nurtured and sufficient capital flows can be formed. Because without sufficient capital flows, how can we invest in emerging technologies and new infrastructure construction, and how can we improve people's livelihoods? The answer is that we can't do it at all."
The expert added that Russia has 10 to 15 years to find allies. He emphasized that it is unrealistic for Russia to compete with China and the United States alone, and therefore, it must build a friendly, broad economic and technological space for Russia — within which companies from various countries can cooperate based on unified standards and platform solutions:
"We must actively seek partners and establish a technological alliance now. Of course, the key issue is 'who to cooperate with?' The current situation is that apart from the United States and China, no other country possesses the key strength to participate in the new round of technological competition — whether it's Japan, India, Brazil, or Western European countries, they all face this problem. These countries have to look for allies. Obviously, our natural allies are those countries that face the same difficulties as us: they are also competing with China and the United States, but they cannot align with either side. These countries include India, Iran, the entire Southeast Asia, and even Western Europe and Japan."

"There is nothing that cannot be done, including technical copying"
Previously, economist Yevgeny Nadorzhin proposed the idea of competing with Chinese cars in the Russian domestic market when he was interviewed by "Constantinople":
"At present, this issue is particularly critical for us — because it seems that there is no intellectual property right that can constrain us. We have clearly stated that we do not need to abide by the relevant rules. The current public discourse in the country is: we owe no one anything, because everyone has betrayed us — they imposed sanctions on us, and Western companies have left. So, there is nothing that we cannot do, including technical copying."

The expert also mentioned that China started from simple technological referencing, and this strategy eventually helped China occupy an important position in the global market:
"You can pay attention to the rise of the Chinese automobile industry — now Chinese cars are squeezing the share of European, American, and Japanese cars in the global market. The situation of the American automobile industry is relatively easy to understand: it has been acquired multiple times, and due to insufficient competitiveness, it keeps merging with other companies; while European and Japanese cars were doing well both domestically and abroad. However, the Chinese automobile industry started from technological copying. Perhaps, if we cannot create a successful automobile industry through 'compliant methods' and cannot find any other viable path, then we might as well learn from China's experience."
