It's chaos!
The Toronto Premium Outlets, a popular shopping mall in Toronto, has had a store vandalized and robbed.
In the video footage released online, surveillance shows that around 4 PM on April 23, a store inside the mall was broken into and robbed by masked robbers.
Three people can be seen rushing into the store, pushing the staff to a corner, and several individuals brutally attacking the staff, who are knocked to the ground.
This group of people stole goods from the store and some items from the drawers.
At least one person was seen keeping watch outside the store.
In another video, three black-clad individuals and one person wearing gray clothing can be seen rushing out of the store and fleeing.
Based on the location where the video was taken, this is a Telus store located near the parking lot leading to the outlet mall. Shoppers at the scene were terrified during the incident.
After the robbers fled, people asked if the staff needed an ambulance, and someone called 911 simultaneously.
Thugs nowadays are getting too bold, openly robbing in broad daylight.
Not only merchants but also shoppers need to be cautious. There have been numerous cases of customers' phones being stolen at the Toronto Premium Outlets this year. Police remind everyone to stay vigilant.
According to CP24 reports, on February 1st, police warned the public to be careful with their phones while shopping.
Police figures show that over 100 mobile phones were stolen from the Toronto Premium Outlet Mall in just over two months between mid-November last year and late January this year.
The Halton Regional Police Service stated that they have launched an investigation into this Les Mall in GTA after receiving 104 reports of shopping customers having their phones stolen or lost.
Surveillance footage shared by the police shows a man in gray clothing stealing a woman's phone while she was browsing a store. Investigators shared this video to demonstrate the typical modus operandi of such thefts.
Police said suspects usually work in groups of at least two and pay attention to unsuspecting shoppers using their phones.
"Once the suspect identifies the shopper, they will follow them until an opportunity arises for one of the suspects to bump or brush against the victim while simultaneously removing the phone from the victim's pocket, typically from an unlocked jacket pocket where the phone was last placed," the press release stated.
Then, the suspects quickly hand the stolen phone to their accomplices.
Police said the robbery takes only a few seconds to complete.
Police warn the public to take note of the following:
- When not using your phone, keep it securely in an inner jacket pocket or small bag.
- In crowded places, hold onto your phone tightly.
- Do not leave your phone unattended.
- Be aware of your surroundings and observe or track individuals suspiciously.
- Keep your phone in a safe place, avoid displaying it unnecessarily, and use it only when necessary.
Superlife previously reported that many people also had their phones stolen at Costco stores.
It seems now that extra caution is needed while shopping, being observant and alert. Everyone, please be careful!
