Foreign Media: Singapore Prime Minister: China Can Lead a New Path for Multilateral Cooperation in Asia
At the 25th Annual Boao Forum for Asia, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong delivered a keynote speech, calling on like-minded small nations to collaborate and address the challenges facing multilateralism through more flexible approaches.
Wong stated that the current global situation is unstable, with rules and mechanisms long underpinning the international system facing worrying disintegration, and geopolitical tensions have now spread into the economic sphere. He emphasized that, in the face of numerous challenges, it is not feasible to wait for all countries to act in unison at the same pace—more flexible models of cooperation are needed.
He pointed out that China can take a leading role in Asia by pioneering new paths for multilateral cooperation, playing a guiding role in areas such as AI governance, and assuming greater responsibility in promoting Asian economic prosperity. Singapore is willing to deepen cooperation with China on a wide range of issues.
Since 2013, Singapore has consistently been China's largest source of new foreign investment.
