On May 12, the "China-Brazil Business Seminar" was held in Beijing. The event was co-hosted by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), with the China Council for the Promotion of International Investment (CCIIP) and the Brazil-China Entrepreneurs Committee (CEBC) as co-organizers. The seminar aimed to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Brazil, exploring new opportunities for two-way investment and trade.

At the meeting, Brazilian President Lula met with Wang Xing, founder and CEO of Meituan, and witnessed the signing of an investment agreement. Meituan will officially introduce its food delivery service Keeta to Brazil within a few months and plans to invest $1 billion in the project over the next five years.

Wang Xing said that Brazil is a very large market with great potential. Keeta will strive to enhance the local consumer experience, promote the development of partner restaurants, and create more job opportunities locally.

According to the investment agreement, after entering Brazil, Keeta will build a nationwide instant delivery network locally, providing users with better food delivery services. At the same time, Keeta will provide comprehensive services, diversified marketing tools, and digital operation tools to support the business growth of local catering merchants.

The entry of Keeta into Brazil is an important step in Meituan's internationalization efforts and an active exploration by Meituan, as a Chinese enterprise, to respond to national calls and enhance the international competitiveness of China's service trade and the level of open cooperation. Meituan stated that it will promote the deep integration of digitization and service trade, driving the development of new business forms suitable for overseas market characteristics.

In Hong Kong, Keeta has been operating for two years, doubling the sales of restaurant partners on the platform. Since its launch in Saudi Arabia in September 2024, Keeta has covered all core cities in the region, with rapid growth in user numbers and order volumes, and continuous increases in入驻merchants.

Wang Xing said that internationalization is one of Meituan's long-term development strategies. We will continue to make efforts to "go out" and expand overseas markets, opening up new development prospects. As in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, our beneficial experiences and advanced technologies in the food delivery industry can benefit users, which excites us greatly. We also look forward to providing more choices for Brazilian consumers and contributing to the growth of the local economy.
