Russian Railways will launch passenger trains to China in March
Russian Railways will resume passenger train services from Russia to China after a six-year hiatus in March.
The company announced that the train from Baikal to Manzhouli will resume operation starting on March 8. With the launch of this train, direct trains departing from Irkutsk and Chita will begin operating on March 6 and March 7, respectively.
Train tickets from Russia to China can be purchased at ticket offices and online. The first train from Irkutsk to Manzhouli costs 29,953 rubles (approximately 2,657 Chinese yuan), from Chita it is 15,280 rubles (approximately 1,355 Chinese yuan), and from Baikal it is 674 rubles (approximately 60 Chinese yuan). The travel times are 27 hours and 15 minutes, 15 hours and 40 minutes, and 25 minutes, respectively. Train tickets from China to the above-mentioned cities in Russia can only be purchased within China.
In mid-December 2024, the passenger trains between China and Russia, which had been suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resumed operations. The 402/401 train connecting SuiFengHe in China with GrodKovo in Russia began running again. Starting in March, the Russian Railways' subsidiary, Federal Passenger Company, will be responsible for operating trains and carriages from the Trans-Baikal region and Siberia to China.
