U.S. Secretary of State Rubio: Hopes to Collaborate with Certain Individuals Inside Iran's Government; U.S. Has Received Positive Signals Privately

Iran – U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said on Monday that he hopes to work with certain individuals within the Iranian government, noting that the United States has received positive signals privately. Rubio stated that there is "division" within the Islamic Republic of Iran, and that the U.S. hopes individuals with "practical capabilities" will come to power. Speaking on ABC News' "Good Morning America," Rubio said, "There are people in Iran now talking to us in ways that past Iranian leaders never did, and they are willing to do things."

He added that private messages from Iran differ from public statements.

In another interview with Al Jazeera, Rubio stated that genuine information exchange and some direct dialogue do exist between Iran and the United States.

He told the Qatar-based news channel that communication "primarily goes through intermediaries, but there are also some direct conversations."

The day before Rubio made these remarks, Trump claimed that Iran had already undergone a "regime change," nearly a month after the war launched by the U.S. and Israel.

Trump said the U.S. is now engaging with "a completely different group of people" who are "very rational."

Rubio also delivered a comprehensive condemnation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, asserting that this war aims to destroy Iran's nuclear weapons development capability. He said, "These people are lunatics. They are crazy. They are religious fanatics, and we must never allow them to possess nuclear weapons because they harbor apocalyptic visions of the future."

However, AFP reported that Trump claimed he had already achieved the goal of destroying Iran's nuclear weapons development capability during a previous attack last year.
