Boeing planes are no longer selling, and Emirates outright refuses delivery: Use the tin sheets to make canned goods

Boeing planes really aren't selling anymore.

Since 2013, Emirates has placed orders for a total of 270 Boeing aircraft, all models being 777X, with an average price of $440 million per plane.

Logically, after securing such a massive order, Boeing should have ramped up production and delivered promptly. However, when the first aircraft was finally completed, it wasn’t until 2019—only ten planes in the initial batch, all failing to meet standards.

The 777X is Boeing’s new airliner model. Because it's a new design, it underwent multiple design revisions, which ultimately caused significant delays.

By the time the first batch rolled off the production line, the original design had already become outdated compared to the latest technical standards. Economically speaking, these planes lacked high cost-effectiveness, not to mention they experienced technical issues along the way, even failing static testing.

As a result, Emirates ultimately refused to accept delivery of these planes, leading to an indefinite delay in deliveries—so much so that the 11th aircraft has still not been seen to this day.

Emirates CEO Al Clark bluntly pointed out that the problems with those planes were too severe to be used as-is; how Boeing handles these failed prototypes is their own business.

Clark revealed that Boeing is currently trying to find buyers for these ten aircraft, but no airline is willing to take on a fleet of non-compliant planes. Perhaps buyers from other industries might be interested—like Heinz.

Heinz is a multinational food company headquartered in the United States, best known for its ketchup and infant rice cereal. Clark sarcastically remarked that Boeing could sell the planes to Heinz to use as cans for baked beans.

Once upon a time, Boeing aircraft were eagerly sought after by airlines worldwide. Now, they've reached a point where they can't even sell—truly a heartbreaking turn of events.
