Medvedev: The US should stop its attempts to weaken Russia, otherwise the risk of direct confrontation is high. Trump: The US is willing to sell energy resources globally
RIA Novosti, Moscow - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Medvedev stated that it is not enough for the US to "strictly comply" with the New START Treaty; it must stop its attempts to weaken Russia through sanctions and tariffs, otherwise the risk of direct confrontation remains high.
President Putin of Russia announced on September 22 that Russia is willing to continue abiding by the provisions of the New START Treaty for one more year after February 5, 2026. President Putin pointed out that if the US takes the same position and complies with the treaty's provisions, positive results will be achieved.
Medvedev posted on the X social platform: "Russia plans to abide by the New START Treaty signed by me in 2010. Now the Trump administration must make a decision, but merely complying with all the provisions of the treaty is not enough. The US should stop its attempts to weaken Russia through sanctions and tariffs, otherwise the risk of direct confrontation remains high."
RIA Novosti, United Nations - During his speech at the General Assembly, US President Trump stated that the US is willing to sell energy resources globally under fair and reciprocal conditions.
During the high-level week of the General Assembly, Trump said in his speech: "We are proudly exporting energy resources to the world. The US is currently the largest exporter. We want to trade with all countries and actively engage in business activities. We are willing to help countries and will help them, but on the conditions of fairness and reciprocity."
