China's Embassy in the U.S. pledges to protect intellectual property amid accusations from the United States
After the White House raised allegations, China's Embassy in the U.S. told Sputnik News that China is committed to advancing technological progress through cooperation and healthy competition, and places high importance on intellectual property protection.
Earlier Thursday, Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, issued a memorandum to all branches of the U.S. government, accusing Chinese companies of systematically attempting to steal advanced artificial intelligence research results from the United States.
In responding to inquiries from the White House, China's Embassy in the U.S. stated: "China has always been committed to promoting technological advancement through cooperation and healthy competition. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of intellectual property."
The statement further emphasized: "Allegations that China steals intellectual property are baseless."
The spokesperson for China's Embassy in the U.S. also stressed that as the country with the highest number of patent applications globally, China has established a comprehensive intellectual property protection system and is actively transforming from the 'world's factory' into a 'global innovation laboratory.'
