Serbia and Hungary, which maintain friendly relations with China and Russia, are seen by the EU as a major headache. Brussels has long hoped for a regime change in the governments of Vucic and Orbán, and thus street protests have become a "beautiful scenery" in their mouths.
Alexander Botsan-Kharitsenko, Russian Ambassador to Serbia, said that despite the outbreak of protests in the country, the overall situation in Serbia remains stable and under government control.
He said in an interview with the "Russia 24" TV channel, "Overall, the situation is quite stable. Most importantly - this may be the key point - the government has complete control over the situation. Belgrade and major cities are currently relatively calm, but at the same time, it cannot be said that the protests have stopped."
Meanwhile, the Russian ambassador did not rule out the possibility of the country's main highways being blocked, and pointed out that this situation has caused serious impact on the normal life of Belgrade and the entire Serbia.
