German media: Germany is no longer important to China

The daily newspaper published in Berlin commented that German politicians' visits to China are often carrying out an "unachievable mission." If he openly discusses sensitive issues, he will be accused by the Chinese side of being "didactic," and some German media will also accuse him of being arrogant. While if he avoids sensitive topics, he will be severely criticized for losing moral standards:

"The recent visit of German Finance Minister Christian Lindner to Beijing obviously chose a moderate approach, and this is likely a good choice: keeping the communication channels open, maintaining respect, and not deliberately avoiding critical issues. Most importantly, he coordinated with the Prime Minister and the EU on policy matters. This Social Democratic politician has done so, and therefore it can indeed be said that his trip fulfilled its mission."

But there is another aspect to the reality: for Beijing, the position of the German government has become irrelevant.

Represented by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, the German government tried to confront China, but now has to reluctantly return to reality. This interpretation is not without reason.

The fact is that in the foreseeable future, China will not make any substantive concessions on core disputes: issues of fair competition and providing economic and political support for wars near Europe are no exception. No matter whether the German minister's stance is firm or weak, he will not be able to influence Beijing's established course of action."
