Duterte's camp strikes back! The senator who framed old Duterte and Sara, Risa Hontiveros, is being prosecuted!
Lawyer Luna, former congressman and presidential political affairs advisor to the elder Duterte government, Paras, and the vice spokesperson of the Philippine Democratic Party, Topacio, said on Monday in Quezon City that they will submit a lawsuit against Hontiveros in the Senate today, August 19.
The three stated that they expect the Senate to investigate Hontiveros' relationship with Michael Mauricio's testimony from last July, where Mauricio testified in Hontiveros' 2024 Senate investigation that priest Apollo Quiboloy, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and Vice President Sara Duterte were guilty.
Mauricio later claimed in an online video circulated in June that he received one million dollars from Hontiveros to file charges against the above three individuals.
The three stated that according to Article 6, Section 16(3) of the Constitution, Hontiveros paying Mauricio to accuse and falsely testify against Quiboloy, as well as maliciously accusing former President and Vice President Duterte, constitutes disorderly conduct.
They said that Hontiveros has regularly provided witnesses in the Senate investigation, and these witnesses later retracted their testimonies and admitted that they were paid by Hontiveros to testify.
If the Senate can verify the charges against Hontiveros, it needs to impose appropriate punishment on her, which may include expulsion, a maximum six-month suspension, or censure.
