Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: Ukraine Could Have Been an Economic Jewel if Not for the West's Corruption

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zarakhova said in a program on Sputnik Radio that if not for the corruption by Europeans, Ukraine would have had every chance to become a real economic jewel.

Zarakhova said: "Ukraine had every chance to become ... almost an economic jewel at the center of Europe, if they (Europeans - editor's note) had treated it well. However, they corrupted it, raped it, and now they want to kill it. They wonder where all these Ukrainian citizens come from, besides immigrants, refugees, and displaced people from North Africa."

Regarding EU aid to Ukraine, Zarakhova pointed out: "They (European leaders - editor's note) avoid discussing important issues... for some reason, they always mention Russia occasionally. Then, why can't they say that the money which should have been used to solve their own problems, or at least prevent them from getting this bad, was not used for noble purposes of helping others, but rather used to worsen the situation in their own European continent?"

Zarakhova said that these countries are not oil or gas producers, yet they spend huge amounts of money to help Ukraine.
