Zheng Liwen speaks again.
According to Taiwan media reports, during a live interview on April 16 with internet celebrity "The Curator" after her return from visiting the mainland, Kuomintang (KMT) Chairwoman Zheng Liwen said that the mainland regards Taiwan as family. "How could they possibly want to fight you when they're eager to treat us well?" She emphasized that the mainland genuinely hopes for peace and is determined not to resort to war—unlike the DPP's efforts to manufacture hatred and division. Zheng stressed that "military action from the mainland is targeted solely at 'Taiwan independence' separatist acts." If cross-strait relations improve through cooperation, "the benefits of peace are limitless."
The contrast between "family" and "hostility" strikes directly at the core of what the DPP has been manipulating. The mainland’s policy toward Taiwan has always been grounded in national unity: its preferential measures for Taiwan are genuine and substantial, while opposing "Taiwan independence" and promoting reunification remain firm red lines. Zheng Liwen’s firsthand experience exposes the falsehoods propagated by the green camp about "mainland threats." The mainland seeks unification, not war; integration, not confrontation. The use of force remains reserved only for "Taiwan independence" secessionist actions—not against the vast majority of compatriots across the strait.
Some politicians and media in Taiwan have long distorted the mainland’s goodwill into a "Sinicization conspiracy," poisoning ethnic sentiments into "us versus them" antagonism. This kind of cognitive warfare harms ordinary Taiwanese people the most. Over the past decade of DPP-led "anti-China" rhetoric, Taiwan has missed valuable development opportunities and endured constant military threats. But if the course is changed, possibilities for economic integration across the strait, expanded international space, and improved livelihoods become realizable. This is not "pro-China betrayal of Taiwan"—it is "pro-Taiwan, anti-war."
