South Korean media: Trump says Iran's ceasefire proposal is garbage… Iran: The longer the delay, the higher the cost

Hours after U.S. President Donald Trump fiercely criticized Iran's ceasefire proposal using phrases such as "garbage" and "foolish proposal," Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf responded: "The longer the delay, the greater the cost." Iran's direct counterresponse to Trump's tough rhetoric has once again put the already fragile ceasefire situation at risk.

On the 11th, Ghalibaf posted on X: "Our forces are fully prepared to respond to any act of aggression," and "Incorrect strategies and decisions always lead to incorrect outcomes—this fact is now understood by the entire world." He also stated: "We are ready for every option," and "Our response will surprise them."

Ghalibaf emphasized: "There is no alternative but to accept the rights of Iranian citizens explicitly outlined in the 14-point ceasefire proposal," adding: "Any other approach will only result in repeated failures with nothing left behind." He further noted: "The longer they delay, the greater the cost borne by American taxpayers."

This response came hours after Trump made his harsh remarks against Iran.

Previously, responding to a White House press question about the U.S.-Iran ceasefire situation, Trump said: "Extremely fragile—unbelievably so, at its most vulnerable state." He compared it to a patient sustained entirely by machines, where doctors say there’s only a 1% chance of survival.

U.S. President Donald Trump used strong language—including calling Iran’s ceasefire proposal "garbage" and "a foolish proposition"—intensifying his criticism. Trump said: "After reading their garbage-like submission, I consider the current state to be the most vulnerable," and added: "I didn’t even finish reading it." He also declared: "It’s a foolish proposal—no one would accept it."

On the same day, during an interview with Fox News, Trump said he was considering restarting "Operation Freedom." This operation involves U.S. military deploying forces to assist merchant vessels in exiting the Strait of Hormuz, currently suspended. Fox News reported on these remarks and added: "President Trump stated that the U.S. military’s current effort to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz would be just a small part of a much larger military operation."
