Three German lithography giants won the 2020 Future Prize, leading new breakthroughs in optical technology.

Germany's three leading researchers in lithography machines, for their project "EUV Lithography - A New Dawn in the Digital Age", were awarded the 2020 German Future Prize (from left): Dr. Sergiy Yulin from the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF, Dr. Peter Kürz from the SMT division of Carl Zeiss, and Dr. Michael Kösters from Trumpf Semiconductor Manufacturing Laser Systems GmbH.

Dr. Sergiy Yulin (Photo 2) has been focusing on advanced optical technology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering in Germany for many years, having published numerous papers. He is also the chief scientist for the optical part of the EUV lithography machine, which fully demonstrates the depth of Germany's research in the field of optics.

With Germany's advanced optical technology, a large number of German companies related to optics have been established.
