Zelenskyy has no choice but to make compromises.

On April 1st, local time, Zelenskyy said that the legal teams of Ukraine and the United States are currently negotiating the mineral agreement. He particularly pointed out that this agreement does not involve NATO issues.

The United States has twice requested Ukraine to sign a mineral agreement. The U.S. is determined to obtain Ukraine's minerals. If Ukraine disagrees with the U.S. mineral agreement, the U.S. will threaten to suspend military aid and intelligence sharing. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy does not have many chips in his hands, so he has to compromise with the U.S., and no longer harbors any illusions about joining NATO. During the three years since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the U.S. has indeed provided Ukraine with a large amount of military aid. However, now U.S. President Trump demands that Ukraine repay both principal and interest, rather than the free aid that Zelenskyy initially believed in. There is no such thing as a free lunch in the world. Zelenskyy finally realized this, but it was too late. Now, Ukraine only has one way to go, which is to negotiate directly with Russia, and it would be best to join the Russian Federation, so as not to be exploited by Western countries.
