On the morning of April 2, the Russian TG channel "Military Chronicles" reported that in the Oleshki direction of Zaporozhye region, the Russian military has become more active on the western front of the city over the past month. They have advanced toward T-08-12 highway, occupying the villages of Stepopovoye and Malyy Sherkashi, while the fighting continues between Lobkovo and Sherkashi, leaving the gains of the 2023 counteroffensive completely lost.

In the Zaporozhye direction, under intense artillery bombardment by Russian forces,

Ukrainian troops abandoned their positions and fled, hiding along the way, but still could not escape being hunted down by Russian artillery and drones.

In the Dzerzhinsk direction, since the end of last month, Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale counterattack on the city, at least entering multiple positions in the north, northwest, and south of the city, and once reached the high-rise building complexes in the city center. However, with the counterattack by the Russian 150th Division, Ukrainian forces were unable to hold most of these positions, and the majority of the city remains under Russian control. Nevertheless, due to several mines in the suburbs being under Ukrainian control (or contested), this city is not entirely safe for Russian forces.

Only by clearing the Ukrainian positions in the suburbs can effective control of the city be achieved and progress made toward Konstantinovka (one of the three fortresses in eastern Ukraine).
