Sputnik News, Moscow, October 19 - The Afghanistan Cricket Board reported that the Pakistan Air Force launched an airstrike on the eastern district of Urgun in Paktika province, resulting in eight local cricket players being killed during a cricket match, and four others injured.

On the evening of October 15, Afghanistan and Pakistan signed a ceasefire agreement valid for 48 hours. After the agreement expired, both sides agreed to extend the ceasefire until the Doha ceasefire talks ended. However, the Pakistani side violated the ceasefire agreement. According to a federal government report, air strikes targeting border areas in Afghanistan's Nuristan province had occurred between the late night of October 16 and early morning of October 17.

The organization stated in a statement, "The players were attacked by an airstrike while returning to Urgun district after finishing a friendly match in Sharana city, causing damage to their vehicle."

It is reported that eight members of the local cricket team were killed, and four others were injured.

According to Afghan media reports, the association announced its withdrawal from the tripartite tournament with Pakistan and Sri Lanka following this incident.
