Pakistani Prime Minister: Pakistan is ready for talks with Afghanistan

Sputnik News, New Delhi, October 16 - Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan is ready to hold talks with Afghanistan.

The Dawn quoted the Prime Minister's speech at the cabinet meeting as saying: "Yesterday, we decided to temporarily cease fire for 48 hours and clearly stated that if they are willing to meet our reasonable conditions through negotiations, we are ready. Now it is their turn to make a decision."

On the early morning of October 15 local time, conflicts broke out between Pakistan and Afghanistan, escalating along the entire Durand Line border (which Kabul does not recognize). Subsequently, the Pakistani army attacked terrorist positions in Afghanistan in response to an attack on a post in the Kalam district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest.

On Wednesday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced an agreement with Afghanistan, temporarily ceasing fire for the next 48 hours due to recent border clashes.
