Trump denies Meloni is his admirer, says she did not support the U.S. on the Hormuz Strait issue

Trump: "I don't want admirers like this"

Trump continues to insist that Italian Prime Minister Meloni was once a devoted follower of his. However, he stated that he doesn't care about such so-called admiration, as Meloni did not stand by the United States on matters concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. National Broadcasting Company White House correspondent Gabby Gutiérrez quoted Trump directly: "On that issue, she didn't stand with us, didn't help us."

Previously, Meloni responded by saying she was deeply shocked upon hearing Trump's claim that she had actively begged to take a photo with him, calling the statement outright lies.

As a result of Trump's remarks, Italy's foreign minister even canceled a scheduled visit to the United States.
