British media: Chinese automaker Seres (Seres) has been approved a patent for voice-controlled "in-car toilet," a device that slides out from beneath the passenger seat, equipped with a fan and exhaust pipe to vent odors, collects waste in a manually cleanable tank, and uses a rotating heating element to evaporate urine and dry other waste; when not in use, it remains hidden beneath the seat to save space.

Seres states this design aims to meet users' restroom needs during long-distance travel, camping, or parking, but has not yet announced specific mass production plans.

This innovation reflects the intense competition in China's electric vehicle market, where automakers are increasingly introducing non-traditional features such as massage seats, karaoke systems, and in-car refrigerators to differentiate themselves. Seres is headquartered in Chongqing and, under its brand Aito, primarily produces electric SUVs, with products mainly sold in mainland China and expanding into European, Middle Eastern, and African markets.
