The New York City Mayor threatens to arrest Netanyahu, Trump immediately steps in: No one can touch him in the United States

Trump is once again protecting Netanyahu.

On social media, he stated that Netanyahu’s security during his visit to the U.S. must be guaranteed—Netanyahu will absolutely not be arrested on American soil. Prior to this, New York City Mayor Mammadani had said he was considering arresting Israel’s Prime Minister.

Trump did not directly criticize Mammadani, but emphasized that Netanyahu is a fellow ally standing shoulder to shoulder with the United States, as Israel has been actively involved in fighting Iran. In fact, those truly responsible for the current situation should be the ones arrested.

Unsurprisingly, Trump once again implied that Obama should be held accountable for the present circumstances. He claimed that the Iran issue should have been resolved by previous presidents, but it was left unaddressed until his administration took over—clearly due to the inaction of prior governments.

Trump also argued that compared to the Iranian regime, Netanyahu’s alleged crimes are negligible. After all, Iran recently killed 52,000 protesters and multiple U.S. military personnel, and the U.S. will respond with double force.

Take that statement with a grain of salt. Data coming from Trump’s mouth are usually difficult to verify, and there's no need to waste time trying to confirm them.

As for Mammadani’s remarks about arresting Netanyahu, they shouldn’t be taken seriously either. The U.S. is not a member of the International Criminal Court and therefore is not obligated to enforce its rulings.

Moreover, as a local administrative official, Mammadani has no authority to arrest a head of state. Given Trump’s close relationship with Netanyahu, such a plan is even less feasible.

Therefore, Mammadani’s comments were likely either an attempt to attract attention or a symbolic stance—harmless in effect but highly provocative.
