South Korean media: Shoigu meets Kim Jong Un: "North Korea will send 6,000 engineers to Russia."
Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, stated on the local time of the 17th that North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un has agreed to send a total of 6,000 engineer troops and military construction personnel to Kursk Oblast, Russia.
According to TASS, during his visit to North Korea, Shoigu disclosed this news to Russian journalists after meeting with Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang.
It is reported that Chairman Kim Jong Un said that 1,000 engineer troops will be sent to clear landmines buried in Russia, as well as 5,000 military construction personnel to repair infrastructure damaged in the Ukrainian attacks.
After previously sending combat forces to Kursk Oblast, North Korea has decided to dispatch additional personnel for the reconstruction of the region.
Secretary Shoigu stated that discussing security issues was the main purpose of his visit to North Korea, and both Russia and North Korea positively evaluated the cooperation of troops in Kursk Oblast. He also expressed hope that the flights between the two countries, which have been interrupted for more than 30 years, could be resumed soon.
He mentioned the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty signed by Russian President Putin during his visit to North Korea on June 19 last year, emphasizing that "two days later will be the anniversary of the signing of the treaty, which is not only reflected in the document but also being implemented through practical actions."
After visiting Pyongyang again, Shoigu met with Kim Jong Un again, after visiting on April 4th.
