China Construction, China Manufacturing: The First Batch of Light Rail Trains Sent to Astana, the Capital of Kazakhstan
(Report by Kazinform) The first two sets of Astana light rail trains have recently departed from Tangshan, China.
Astana "City Transportation Systems" Company Chairman Aslambek Duysebayev, CRRC Tangshan Company Chairman Zhou Junnian, and China Railway Eurasia Construction Investment Co., Ltd. General Manager Zhou Haiwei jointly attended the departure ceremony.
It is understood that a total of 19 light rail train sets will be produced in Tangshan, China. Each modern, four-carriage, driverless, level-four automated carriage can accommodate 650 passengers.
"The first two sets of light rail trains are planned to arrive in Astana in June. The remaining 17 sets will be delivered by the end of this year. Most of the construction work for the Astana light rail project has been completed, and trial operations are expected to begin in September. Currently, road paving, station exterior installation, painting of bridge columns, external facility connections, improvement of underground passage areas, and garage construction are ongoing," he said.
According to previous reports, the upper structure of the Astana light rail project has completed 25% of its construction tasks.
