Greenland currently does not accept Chinese investment and will continue this policy
Sputnik News, Washington, January 15 - After talks at the White House with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio and Vice President Vance, Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen stated that Denmark and Greenland do not allow Chinese investment on the island and are prepared to continue this policy.
President Trump previously said that the United States must obtain Greenland in any way possible. He also said that if the United States does not take over Greenland, Russia or China would take over it.
Rasmussen said: "Mainly for security reasons. I have said that although there is no immediate Russian or Chinese threat now, we cannot allow, for example, Chinese investment to enter. About a decade ago, when China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, there was discussion about Chinese investment in Greenland's infrastructure, but we did not allow it. Therefore, there is no Chinese presence on Greenland today, but there are concerns that in 10 or 20 years, will there be Chinese investment? No, because our friends in Greenland have implemented investment verification mechanisms, etc., and we will continue to do so as before."
