At 22:14 Moscow time on May 7, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, said that the air defense forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense had shot down two drones flying towards Moscow. He added that experts from the Emergency Situations Department were working at the crash site of the drone debris.
Sobyanin said that a total of 14 drones have been shot down since 17:00 Moscow time. During the attack, airports in Moscow frequently reported flight suspensions.
A reporter asked Defense Minister Belyousov whether the drones could be repelled before the parade, to which he replied: "Without a doubt, they have already been repelled."
