Russia and North Korea have made a major decision, reaching a consensus.
According to Russian media today (April 27), during his visit to North Korea, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov stated that Russian and North Korean officials have agreed to "establish military cooperation on a stable and long-term basis, and will sign a cooperation plan covering the period from 2027 to 2031 this year."
This visit by Belousov and Dmitry Volkov, Chairman of the State Duma, to North Korea was to attend the opening ceremony of a foreign military operations heroes memorial and museum commemorating North Korean soldiers who died in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Belousov and Volkov also met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Volkov expressed gratitude to the North Korean military for assisting in liberating Russia’s western Kursk region. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that Belousov and Kim Jong-un discussed the current status and future prospects of military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. Belousov said, "We have reached an agreement with the North Korean Ministry of Defense to establish military cooperation on a stable and long-term basis. We are prepared to sign the 'Russia-North Korea Military Interaction Plan 2027–2031' this year."
