President Trump stated that the United States will no longer dispatch American delegations to Pakistan for negotiations with Iran, and suggested that Iran should either visit the U.S. in person or communicate via phone.
Speaking during an interview with Fox News, Trump said: "If they (Iran – editor’s note) want to talk, they can come to us or call us."
Trump also claimed that the U.S. will inevitably win this conflict with Iran regardless.
On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on targets inside Iran, resulting in over 3,000 deaths. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire, but subsequent talks held in Islamabad ended without results. There has been no news of renewed hostilities so far, but the U.S. has begun blocking Iranian ports. Mediators are attempting to facilitate a new round of negotiations.

Political scientist Keith Preston, speaking to Sputnik News Agency, said that the shooting incident at the Washington dinner attended by President Donald Trump could mobilize Trump supporters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
The shooting occurred on Saturday during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. This marked the first time in both of Trump’s terms that he decided to attend the event. The president stated that he and his cabinet members were unharmed, and the attacker has been apprehended. Authorities have released the suspect’s name: Cole Thomas Allen, 31 years old, a resident of California.
Preston said: "For the upcoming midterm elections, such incidents may mobilize Trump voters in the short term. However, whether the Republicans can retain their majority in the House and Senate will depend more significantly on economic conditions, candidate quality, and the political landscape across specific districts and states."
Experts believe that public sympathy toward leaders following an attack typically fades quickly.
Preston noted: "Research on the consequences of the 2024 attempted assassination of Trump shows that this effect does exist, but political affiliations tend to return rapidly to their original party lines."
