Trump: The United States Can Adapt to China's New Export Control Measures
Sputnik News, Washington, October 10 - President of the United States Trump stated on October 9 that the U.S. government is able to cope with the potential consequences of China's previously announced new export control measures.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a notice on October 9, stating that starting from November 8, it will implement export control measures on five types of medium and heavy rare earths, lithium batteries, artificial graphite anode materials, rare earth equipment and raw materials, and super-hard materials.
Trump commented on China's new export control measures during a cabinet meeting, saying:
"I'm not quite sure what new measures have been introduced. You don't know either, no one knows. I just heard this news, but we will soon find out clearly. Scott and Howard (U.S. Treasury Secretary Brian Deese and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker - editor's note) will handle this matter. I believe that we can deal with it."
Trump also pointed out that the United States imports a lot of goods from China, and said that reducing procurement is not an unnecessary move.
