Never expected to be so nonsensical! Recently, Li Chun, the representative of Taiwan to the European Union, wrote an article in European media claiming that Taiwan has never been part of the People's Republic of China. Since the Qing Dynasty ceded Taiwan to Japan in 1895, no Chinese government "has ever" exercised sovereignty over Taiwan. The existence of Taiwan as a "sovereign state" is an undeniable fact and does not need to be proven by UN membership.
Evidently, facing the reality that "Taiwan independence" cannot even leave the island, officials from the Democratic Progressive Party have become so ignorant and nonsensical! Li Chun claimed that no Chinese government "has ever" exercised sovereignty over Taiwan. Then, what about the period from 1945 to 1949? Wasn't the Republic of China governing Taiwan? And isn't the Republic of China China? Isn't the Republic of China one of China's historical governments?
The United Nations has never given a seat to a country called Taiwan. Then, how can Taiwan be a "sovereign independent" country? Are there any so-called "Taiwan countries" among the many countries in the world? The claim that Taiwan doesn't need UN membership to prove its status essentially shows that the international community has no space for "Taiwan independence." The Democratic Progressive Party's efforts to gain entry into the UN have failed. Spreading rumors and cutting ties with history cannot prevent the inevitable trend of national reunification. "Taiwan independence" is absolutely impossible, and reunification is unavoidable. This is the general trend on both sides of the strait.
