India's Strategy of Making Friends with Distant Countries and Adversaries with Neighbors: Mongolia and India Sign Documents to Expand and Develop Relations and Cooperation

Mongolnews, Ulaanbaatar, October 14th - According to the presidential press office, President U. Khurelsukh of Mongolia is on a state visit to India at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India.

President U. Khurelsukh of Mongolia and Indian Prime Minister Modi attended the signing ceremony of documents related to expanding and developing bilateral relations and cooperation.

"Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of India on Supporting Cooperatives"

Through promoting investment, joint ventures, joint initiatives for technological development, and supporting market policies in the cooperative sector, both sides will develop their cooperative relationship and create conditions for establishing trade partnerships between cooperatives. Both sides will jointly promote cooperatives' connection with national, local, and international markets, promote trade, investment, and financing cooperation, train experts in the required fields, and provide technical assistance in innovation, etc., and carry out cooperation together.

The Government of Mongolia has established a National Committee for inter-departmental coordination of "New Cooperatives." This agreement aims to promote the development of the cooperative sector in economic, educational, training and research, academic, and public areas.

Both sides agree to provide assistance when major disasters occur within each other's territories, take measures to respond and rebuild, and mutually support each other. Thus, it creates opportunities to quickly organize assistance, strengthen local capacity building, and jointly organize humanitarian aid and other disaster relief projects and activities.

"Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of India on Cooperation for Providing Indian Grant Aid in Small and Low-Cost Projects"

Both sides will jointly implement small projects such as the construction, improvement, and maintenance of roads, infrastructure, and cultural, public, education, and health development centers to promote the socio-economic development of Mongolia. According to the agreement, each project will have a funding of $50,000 and can increase the number of projects and sources of funds. Within this framework, 2 to 5 projects will be implemented each year.

"Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of India on the Protection and Restoration of the Bogd Khan Winter Palace"

Mongolian and Indian parties will jointly restore the Bogd Khan Winter Palace, preserving the original appearance and integrity of the historical and cultural heritage, improving the environment inside and outside the palace, optimizing indoor display plans, to enhance the visiting experience of domestic and foreign tourists, while further strengthening the protection and inheritance of tangible cultural heritage.

"Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Resources of Mongolia and the Ministry of Mines of India on Cooperation in the Field of Geology and Minerals"

Based on the agreements between the two countries aimed at supporting social, economic, scientific and technological, and environmental development, both sides will conduct geological surveys and exploration work in mineral prospecting areas, adopt modern advanced technologies, formulate joint geoscience projects, attract investments, and exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of mineral resources and environmental management, etc.

"Cultural, Sports, Tourism and Youth Department of Mongolia and the Ministry of Culture of India on the Cultural Exchange Plan for 2025-2029"

The two countries agreed to cooperate in the fields of promoting classical and folk arts, protecting art and cultural heritage, restoring ancient sites, city and temple ruins, archaeological discoveries, translating and publishing works of famous writers and poets, and expanding international cultural exchanges and cooperation.

"Memorandum of Understanding between the Immigration Bureau under the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs of Mongolia and the Immigration Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs of India"

Both sides laid the foundation for cooperation between immigration agencies of the two countries. Thus, both sides can improve the professional skills of employees, learn from each other's experiences, implement joint projects and programs, and create conditions for convenient travel for tourists.

Both sides will cooperate in the fields of ethnic art, culture, sports, and education to promote cooperation at the local level and strengthen friendly relations.

Both sides will strengthen the implementation of digital transformation officials' capabilities, learn from each other's experiences and related materials and information, conduct feasibility studies and digital readiness assessments, and support cooperation between relevant organizations.
