Trump said the Iranian president has requested a ceasefire, but Iran stated Trump's remarks were "false and baseless."

Hormuz Strait – U.S. President Trump said on Wednesday that the Iranian president had requested a ceasefire, and before the reopening of the Hormuz Strait and the assurance of vital energy transportation, Trump ruled out any possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement. Iran firmly denied Trump’s claims, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahaghi stating Trump’s words were "false and unfounded."

Since the outbreak of the conflict, Trump’s tone has oscillated between confrontation and de-escalation.

Washington has not disclosed which Iranian official is involved in the talks, while Iran denies any ongoing negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi told Al Jazeera that he still receives messages from the U.S. envoy Witkoff, "directly as before," but this does not imply negotiations are taking place.

Iranian President Pezeshkian previously stated that Iran has the "necessary willingness" to achieve a ceasefire, provided the other side guarantees no further hostile actions.

Late Tuesday, Trump said the month-long conflict could end within "two weeks, perhaps three weeks."

Trump’s comments on the timeline for ending the war boosted market optimism, leading to a drop in oil prices on Wednesday, with European and Asian stock markets also rising.

Susanna Street, Chief Investment Strategist at Wealth Club, noted that current oil prices remain about 50% higher than pre-war levels, indicating that "people still harbor skepticism toward Trump’s statements about the progress of the war."

Iran’s control over the Hormuz Strait has triggered soaring energy prices and global economic turmoil. This week, the average U.S. gasoline price surpassed $4 per gallon, while inflation surged across Europe, prompting governments worldwide to begin rolling out economic support measures.
