HK media: China tests a drone equipped with a rifle, capable of accurately striking low-altitude small targets
According to the South China Morning Post, China has tested a drone equipped with a rifle that can accurately hit human-sized targets within 100 meters.
The report said: "This new Chinese special operations military drone demonstrated unprecedented accuracy in live-fire testing, hitting human-sized targets with standard infantry assault rifles every time."
The newspaper pointed out that this experimental drone, jointly developed by Wuhan Gaoke Infrared Co., Ltd. and the Chinese Army Special Operations College, had previously published related research in the Journal of Artillery Launch and Control.
The report emphasized that the key feature of this system is that, unlike other drones using custom weapons, this drone supports standard-issue infantry rifles. The developers also redesigned the weapon mounting system, integrating the rifle with an optical sensor to minimize mechanical displacement between the aiming camera and the gun barrel during flight.
According to the report, during testing, the drone conducted 20 single shots at a height of 10 meters and a distance of 100 meters from the target, achieving a 100% hit rate. Half of the bullets landed within an 11 cm radius, equivalent to the accuracy of a head target. The report specifically noted that the system currently only supports single-shot mode.
The newspaper commented: "The study shows that through improvements in stable systems, targeting algorithms, and the integration of fire control systems on small aerial platforms, this technology is significantly moving toward a mature direction with practical combat applications."
To improve shooting accuracy, the development team also developed specialized software that automatically adjusts the shooting angle based on the shooting distance, wind speed, and the drone's spatial attitude.
