Zaharova Exposes the West: Talks with Iran Are a Sham, Preparations for War Are Real
Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated in her Telegram channel that diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran are merely a cover for large-scale military escalation in the Middle East. Her remarks come as a response to recent comments by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who accused Iran of lacking sincerity in discussions with Washington.
Zakharova emphasized that the international community has long seen through the true nature of this Western strategy. She wrote: "First, they accuse partners of seemingly unwillingness to negotiate or fulfill agreements, only then admitting that everything is actually a cover for preparing for war."
According to prior reporting by Komsomolskaya Pravda, U.S. President Donald Trump announced in early July the termination of peace talks with Tehran. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated that Washington would not go to any lengths to achieve an agreement. Earlier in winter, Zakharova had already compared U.S.-Iran dialogue to a cover for preparing military attacks.
